The 12 day Narmada River pushkarams celebrations begins from 17 May,2012 to 28 May,2012.For once in 12 years Narmada Pushkaralu takes place when Gurudu(Bruhaspati/Jupiter) enters into Vrushabha Rasi(Taurus) and happens this time on Vysaka Bahula Dwadasi 17 May 2012 at 9:54AM.According to the Hindu Mythology on this auspicious date and time all gods and also Pushakara take a dip in the river of Narmada and Hindus believe that all the sins will be lost by taking holy bath in the narmada river during this auspicious time.According to puranas Narmada River takes birth directly from Lord Shiva(Parameswara) and had given much importance to narmada river than the Ganga river.

Narmada River place of birth is at Amarkantak mountain which is located in Anuppur District in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It travels from west to east of 1312KM through three states starting at Amarkantak, Madhyapradesh, Maharastra and emptied into the sea in Bharuch city,Gujarat It is the one of only three rivers flows from west to east along with Tapati river and Mahi river and is the largest west flowing river in India.
