”Janmana jayate martya karmanal jayate dwija brahmajnaneti brahmana”
During birth every man is Shudra or martya, With karma or Activities he becomes Dwija (Pandita -2nd birth). And finally becomes Brahmana (self realized man) only when gains Brahmajnana (Self realization) vyasa smruti says there is nothing to say Very Good or Very Bad, Every karma has its own place in the Universe. A shudra can become brahmana with good deeds and a brahmana can be lowered to shudra with his bad deeds. Until AD 750 anybody in India were free to accept any Cast according to their wish and nature.
A brahmana child may not be a brahmana and a shudra child may not be a shudra, This can be illustrated with an example. Drona acharya (the great warrior and guru of pandava and Kaurava ) was born to a brahmana, but he denied brahmanya and accepted Kshatriya Cast. So the Cast system in Ancient india was not depends upon birth, but only depends on Karma and Nature. In bhagavath gita Sri bhagavan krishna says, “Chaturvarnyam mayasrushtam Gunakarma vibhagasha”- The 4 caste system made by me only in basis of KARMA and quality. Hence brahmanyam is also achievable by proper spiritual customs and Higher thoughts and not only by Birth. How to chant Gayatri matra. And more..
