The Ramayan known as Adikavya (First classic poem), originally composed by Valmiki. Valmiki was a Great Sage lived at the Time of SriRama. It was composed during the Tretayuga, Many hundred years ago. Modern Scholars says that it was around 300 BC. Ramayana is the Story of Lord SriRama, One of the Ten Avatars of Lord Vishnu appeared in Treta Yuga, Who was the King of Ayodhya (Place in Uttarpradesh, india) during the Treta Yuga. It is said that God himself inspired Sage Valmiki to compose the Great classic to awaken people spiritually. It consists of twenty four thousand Stanzas.
The Classic is divided into seven major Sections (kandhas)
1, Balakanda
2, Ayodhya kanda
3, Aranya kanda
4, Kishkinta kanda
5, Sundara kanda
6, Yudha kanda
7, Uttara kanda
Balakanda tells the life of Rama during childhood and till the marriage to Sita Devi. Ayodhya kandha describes Ramas Coronation and his Exile to the forest with Sita Devi and Brother Lakshmana. Aranya kanda describes the life of Rama at Dense Forest and the Kidnapping of Sita Devi by Ravana (The Asura king of Lanka). Fourth Section, Kishkinta kanda tells the meeting of Sri Hanuman (A very intimate devotee of Rama) with Sri Rama , Killing of Bali, Vanara king for his brother Sugreva and coronation of Sugriva as the king of Kishkinta. The fifth Section is about the Meeting of Sita with Hanuman and his Fight with Soldiers of Ravana. The Sixth book is about The War between Rama and Ravana and Finally Rama Kills Ravana brings Sita Home. The seventh Section describes the Birth of Lava and Kusha (Two great Sons of Sri Rama) , their coronation and the final stage of Ramas Avatar
