This is a collection of Sadguru sri matha amritanandamayi devi’s messages to disciples on spiritual practices. Amma says God is everywhere and not even a single atom he is not. Amma is not only in asram or in body but everywhere. Sincere prayers can invoke gods presense. Amma says when a devotee prayers with pure and sincerity, that vibration will reach ammas mind in no time. So sincerity and selflessness are the keys. Prayer is the invitation to God, without sincere invitation he wont reveal himself. God is the true essence and essential formulae for all things in the universe and only in the depth of silence we hear his voice.
Amma says real prayer never consists any suggestions or complaints. A true devotee always knows god knows everything best, so he surrenders, bows with helplessness to god. Amma emphasis the power of group prayer
Attachment to Guru is same as attachment to god, it is like attachment to holy river ganga, it purifies you. But wordily relation is like attachment to dirty water.
Amma says do not think of the benefits from spiritual practices or selfless service. There is nothing to be gained from here, everything is within. Purification of the mind (antakarna shudhi) is the real motive of spiritual practices or selfless service. By these practices we are watering the root of the tree, which is our life, it will never be waste. Compassion to others makes us grow spiritually.
Amma says the importance of lord siva, siva linga etc.we cant understand why some people insult hindu beliefs and symbols like siva linga. People sees good or bad according to their inner tendencies. Siva linga is the symbolic representation of the universe, science says the whole universe is in the form of egg, which was said before many thousands of years in India as ‘Brahmandam’. Worship of siva linga is the worship of universe in Auspicious Form and pure consciousness.
Amma says don’t miss a single opportunity to serve others. Selfless service is a great spiritual practice, Since killing the ego and selfishness is the goal of all spiritual practices like meditation, japa, bhajan.
