What is Brahmacharya? The word brahmacharya, which is literally understood as Sexual celibacy, has a higher meaning. Acharya means one who practices. Brahma means God. Brahma-Acharya means, one who practices union with God by transforming Sexual energy into Spiritual energy.
From the basic energy center Mooladhara to the crown energy center sahasrara; subtle energy is being stepped up, modified, transformed and spiritualized.Why all this process? This whole process is to expand the individual consciousness to universal consciousness. Spiritual energy is essential for the expansion of consciousness, and expansion of consciousness is the very purpose of Human Life. This energy transformation is not possible by merely banking up Sexual energies.
