Lord Medaram Jatara 2012 | Sammakka Sarakka Jathara in Andhra Pradesh | Sammakka Sarakka Temple Pictures Photo Songs

Medaram Jatara, popularly known as Sammakka Sarakka Jathara, is a tribal festival dedicated to Sammakka and Sarakka, two tribal Goddesses, celebrated at Medaram village in Eturunagaram forest area in Warangal district of Andhra Pradesh. Medaram is a village in thick forest which transforms into a cosmopolis during this Jathara. Medaram Jathara in 2012 will start on February 8, 2012 and end on 11 February. It is celebrated for four days in Magha masam or Magh month.

Sammakka Sarakka Jathara

Medaram Sammakka Sarakka Jatara is the second largest religious congregation after the Maha Kumbh Mela. The celebrations commemorate the furious fight of a mother and daughter, Sammakka and Sarakka, against the cruel and wicked rulers.

Medaram Sammakka Sarakka Jathara attracts approximately seven million devotees all across India mainly from Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Orissa, and Karnataka. Thousands of foreign tourists visit the tribal fair and enjoy the tribal spirit. The major ritual during the fair is offering Bangaram (Jaggery) to the Goddesses. Colorful bullock carts are also stand as one of the attractive aspects of this largest tribal fair in the world. Pavitra Snanam in Japanna Vagu or the stream or rivulet near Medaram temple is considered highly auspicious.

Khairatabad Ganesha idol 2011 for Ganesh Chaturthi

For Ganesh Chaturthi 2011, Khairatabad Ganesh idol in Hyderabad would be the one among the largest Ganesha idols in India. Khairatabad Ganesh idol known for its mammoth size, is the largest Ganesh idol in India for every Ganesh Chaturthi or Ganesh Festival. Like every year, in 2011, it will be the largest once again with over 50 feet height. In 2011, this mammoth Ganapati is called as Mooshika Vahana Ganesha. It is to note that Ganesh Chaturthi 2011 date is September 1.

For Ganesh Chaturthi 2011, the Ganapathi vigraham model is released for media. A globe of 20 feet breadth and 4 feet height is built and on that a Mooshika (rodent / rat) of 15 feet height is constructed. On Mooshikam, Lord Ganapathi vigraham of 30 feet height is constructed. Lord Vinayaka will have 18-hooded giant serpent of 5 feet height is designed. Estimated that this year the Mammoth Ganesha idol will go much higher than ever with 55-feet height.

The right side of the statue will have the model of Vemulawada Rajarajeshwara swamy temple and the right side will have an idol of Goddess Gajalakshmi (Lakshmi Devi sitting on an elephant) or Goddess Durga sitting on the tiger.

Mr. Sudarshan, Organizer of Khairatabad Mammoth Ganesh Utsav Committee, addressed the media and explained about the concept of Mooshika Ganapathi idol and other details about constructing the idol. He said, “It will take approximately two months to complete the mammoth Ganapati. Totally, 100 people are working for the idol. The height of the idol will be over 50 feet. The idol will be ready by the last week of August 2011.”

Lord Lal Darwaza Mahankali Temple Bonalu Festival in 2011 Hyderabad Date

Bonalu festival in 2011 at the Mahankali Temple at Lal Darwaza in Hyderabad will begin on July 15, 2011. The important Bonalu festival dates at the Lal Darwaza Mahankali Temple are on July 24 and July 25. The festival will end on August 1, 2011. Bonalu is dedicated to Amman – Mother Goddess – and is observed in the Ashada month in the Telangana Region in India.

The Bonalu ritual at Lal Darwaza Mahankali Temple will start at 8:00 AM on July 15 with Abhishekam and Flag hoisting – Dhwajarohana.

On July 24, the deity will receive a set of new ‘Pattuvastram’ from the government – this is a longstanding tradition. Devotees will make offerings on the day.

Welcoming of Potaraju and the grand procession will be held on July 25.

The festival will conclude on August 1, 2011 with Annadanam – food donation.

The other famous Bonalu in Hyderabad are held at the Golconda Mahankali temple and the Ujjain Mahankali Temple.

Lord Garuda Vahanam Seva in Tirupati Brahmotsavams 2011

Garuda Vahanam seva is an important ritual in Tirupati Brahmotsavams held in TTD Venkateshwara temple. In 2011, Garuda Vahana seva is performed today, 3 October 2011, at 9’o clock in the night. It is performed on fifth day of Navratri Brahmotsavams. Lord Venkateswara is taken out in procession specially decorated with the Lord’s chief vehicle Garuda (Garuthmantha vahanam) as vehicle.

During the first event on this day, ‘Mohini Avatara Utsavam on Pallaki’ is performed in the morning. It has become a tradition for the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh to present new silk clothes to Lord Balaji marking the thanksgiving.
