VARAHAMIHIR (499-587 CE)
renowned astrologer and astronomer who was honored with a special decoration and status as one of the nine gems in the court of King Vikramaditya in Avanti (Ujjain). Varahamihir' s book "panchsiddhant" holds a prominent place in the realm of astronomy. He notes that the moon and planets are lustrous not because of their own light but due to sunlight. In the "Bruhad Samhita" and "Bruhad Jatak," he has revealed his discoveries in the domains of geography, constellation, science, botany and animal science. In his treatise on botanical science, Varamihir presents cures for various diseases afflicting plants and trees. The rishi-scientist survives through his unique contributions to the science of astrology and astronomy.

Astrology is not the final answer/ tool for all type of questions and problems. We have got a WRONG notion that the grahas give all these to us according to their presence in horoscope. NO ! All whatever to be experienced by an individual from his (present) Praarabda karma, (past) Aarjitha karma and (previous janma’s) sanchita karma are given in a schedule by the dasas and apahaaraas of the individuals in his horoscope.
The grahas do not GIVE anything, they only indicate what , when where and how one will face the three karma phalas. It depends exclusively upon the soul which decides the destiny and not the horoscope of each the twins.
Also remember that the soul selects the parents to take the birth (read the book : ‘Many lives and many masters’ by Dr. Brian L Weiss). Important factor is the past of the soul and not the position of the grahas ( grahas do not mean planet. Planet means Taaraa grahas. Grahas means ‘all those influence’ which include the Sun, Moon, Nodes (rahu/ketu) and also the planets/ taaraa grahas) .
An important example is worth mentioning here the horoscope matching of Lord Rama and Sita. It was done by Maharshi Vasishta the greatest scholar of thretha yuga. The matching was perfect. You can see that till the last day they could not live happily. Here comes the effect of destiny ( praarabda +aarjita+ sanchit karma phalas) which sometimes is beyond the prediction level by any tool.

Matching horoscope is not scientific . But it may be useful or very useful. It should not be done the way it is done now a days. The best needed pathway is the personality matching analyses of the boys and girls using the astrological parameters .
