This mantra is called Mrityunjaya. Maha Deva or Param siva is praised in this mantra. He is the God of destruction. By praising Siva all fears and even death can be conquered. It means Victory over death. In fact it is said that death and birth is caused from the ignorance of the Soul about its ultimate state. Chanting this mantra with devotion and concentration can bring liberation. The mantra got the name because it destroys all the fears in Sadhakas mind about death, illness etc. Since our true nature is Pure and free from all types of fears, it is just a matter of realization. Vardhanam – Help to nourish or increase

Bandhanan - bondage
