Lord TTD Annual Festival Pavitrotsavam 2012 Celebrations - Tirumala

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams TTD performs annual festival Pavithrotsavam every year on the days of  Ekadasi, Dwadasi and Chaturdasi  in the month of Sravana Masam(Month). In this year 2012, TTD will be celebrated the Pavithrotsavam on 29-Jul-2012 (Sunday-Ekadasi),30-Jul-2012 (Monday-Dwadasi) and 31-Jul-2012 (Tuesday-Chaturdasi) with Ankurarpanam on 28-Jul-2012 (Saturaday-Dasami).
Ankurarpanam means beginning of the festival.Sowing of nine type of holy seeds in earthen container is undertaken on the ankurarpanam day preceding the festival.This sowing ritual signifies the beginning of the festival.
Significance of Pavithrotsavam :
The Pavithrotsavam is also known as Sravana Pavitrotsavam.This is a three festival. The significance of the festival is that priests symbolically seek the pardon of the Lord for their acts of all omissions and  commissions committed either knowingly or unknowingly during the performance of daily rituals to the presiding deity inside the temple.This festival is known as Purification Festival.During these three days Thirumanjanam and Homam will be performed to the Main deity and as well as primary idols of Lord Sri Venkateswar Swamy.
On the day, Ankurarpanam, the processional deity of Lord Senadhipathi is taken out in procession to the Vasantha Mandapam. 
On the first day Homam(Prayer to Sacrificial Fire) will be performed at Yagasala situated inside the temple followed by Snapana Thirumanjanam(celestial bath) for about two hours  to the processional deities with sandal,turmeric,milk,curd and honey. Later the temple priests conducts Pavitra Pratistha.In the evening the processional deities take a pleasure ride around four temple streets blessing pilgrims who converge to witness the grandeur of Lord Malayappa Swamy draped in dazzling Gold and Diamond jewels.

On the second day after Snapana Thirumanjanam(celestial bath) special puja will be performed to the silk woven holy threads called as PAVITHRALU(Holyness) which are in Black,Blue,Red,Yellow and Green colours. These holy silk threads will be adorned to various dities inside the temple as well as deities of sub-temples located inside the temples and also to Lord Sri Varhaswamy located adjacent to Swami Pushkarini. [The holy silk threads will be woven out of the special variety of high quality cotton which is grown exclusively in the land that is meant to grow Tulasi plant which is considered to be sacred].
On the third day Holy Homam will be performed folowed by Snapan Tirumanjanam between 9am to 11am.There will be Visesha Samarpana between 1pm to 4pm followed by procession of deities in four mada streets.The festival will be conclued with Purnahuti which takes place inside the temple in Pavithra Mandapam between 7pm to 9pm.
Note:During these three festival days TTD will cancel all arjitha sevas and will be performed alone.Pilgrims may kindly observe the change.



Lord TTD Annual Seva Jyestha Abhishekam Tirumala - Jyestha Purnima 2012

Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams TTD performs Jyestha Abhishekam every year on the days of  Chaturdasi, Purnami and Padyami  in the month of Jyestha Masam(Month). In this year 2012, TTD will be celebrated the auspicious Jyestha Abhishekam on 3-Jun-2012 (Sunday-Chatudasi),4-Jun-2012 (Monday-Purnami) and 5-Jun-2012 (Tuesday-Padyami).
Significance of Jyestha Abhishekam :
The Jyestha Abhishekam is also known as Abhideyaka Abhishekam.This is a three festival. The essential purpose of the Jyestha Abhishekam is to protect the Utsava Deities - Sri Malayappa Swamy,Goddess Sridevi and Goddess Bhudevi, from damage which might occur during Processions and  Tirumanjanam through various Pujas and  Mantras on these three days.The festival is held in the Kalyanamadam in a solemn manner.
On the first day Lord Sri Malayappa Swamy along with Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi is brought to the Kalyana mandapam in the Sampingi Pradakshina and performs Abhishekam and Snapana Tirumanjanam with Pachamritams comprising Milk,Curd,Honey,Sandal Paste and Turmeric after removing Golden Armour on Lord Malayappa Swamy. Later Vajrakavacham (Diamond Kavacham) is adorned to the deities and they are taken out for Procession along the temple streets.
On the second day after performing the Abhishekam and Snapana Tirumanjanam to the deities,adorned with Pearl-studded Kavacham (Coat of Pearls[Mutyalu]) and taken out in procession in the temple streets.
On the third day also after performing the Abhishekam and Snapana Tirumanjanam to Lord Malayappa Swamy,Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi,decorated with Golden Kavacham and takes for procession.

Lord TTD Annual Srivari Vasanthotsavam 2012

TTD will be conducted Srivari Vasanthotsavam for the year 2012 from 4-4-2012 to 6-4-2012.Every year Vasanthotsavam is being organized for three days in the month of Chaitra Masam (March/April) on the days of Thrayodasi,Chaturdasi and Pournami.On all these days Sri Malayappa Swamy and his consorts are taken round in procession and brought to Vasanta Mandapam. In Vasanta Mandapam Abhisekham is performed to Srivaru and Ammavaru. On the third day Sri Rama with Sita,Lakshmana and Anjaneya and SriKrishna with Rukmini and Satyabhama are also taken round in procession and brought to vasanta mandapam.

TTD announced during these three days i.e. from 4-4-2012 to 6-4-2012 all Arjita Sevas have been cancelled.

Lord TTD Sri PADMAVATHI PARINAYAM at NARAYANAGIRI TIRUMALA


Every Year Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam TTD performs the festival of Sri Padmavathi Parinayam for three days at Narayanagiri,Tirumala. This is an annual seva conducting every year on the days of Navami,Dasami and Ekadasi in the month of  Vaisaka. Narayana Gardens decorates with colourful flowers,sparking lighting,flower banners,lord idols with flowers


Importance of  Sri Padmavathi Parinayam 
Sri Padmavathi Parinayam Festival means three day long grand wedding ceremony of Lord Malayappa Swamy and Goddess Padmavathi Ammavaru.For this celestial wedding colourful kalyana madapam arranges at Narayanagiri Udyanavanam,Tirumala.Every day, evening Sri Malayappa Swami, the festival deity of Lord Venkateswara arrives in grand style on Gaja Vahanam (First Day-Navami) ,Aswa Vahanam (Second Day-Dasami) and Garuda Vahanam(Third Day-Ekadasi) from Main temple to specially decorated Kalyana Madapam at Naranagiri while Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi arrive on separate palanquins.Wedding takes place according to Hindu dharma and performs some traditions like EDURUKOLU,New Clothes offerings.Every Day (during these three days) after the wedding in Kalyana Madapam, "KOLUVU" is held and number cultural programs like Harikatha,Bhajana,Dance,Music,Veda Parayanam and etc., take place. Firing of Colourful Crackers also take place to enlighten the wedding celebrations. After Wedding ceremony Lord Malayappa Swami and Goddess Bhudevi and Sridevi return to the main temple and thus Sri Padmavathi Parinayam closes on the third day in a colourful way. 
First Day - Sri Padmavathi Parinayam [ Navami - Vaishaka Masa]
On the first day Lord Sri Malayappa Swami arrives on Gaja Vahanam to newly decorated Kalayana Madapam and Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi on separate Palanquines.As a part of Wedding ceremony on the first day, EDURUKOLU,Exchange of Flower Bouquet (PulaDandalu),Game of Flower Ball(PulaBhanti Aata),New clothes offering programs are traditionally conducted.After completion of wedding ceremony Lord Malayappa swami along with Sridevi and Bhudevi as procession return to main temple. 
Second Day - Sri Padmavathi Parinayam [Dasami - Vaisaka Masa]
On the second day Lord Sri Malayappa Swami arrives on Aswa Vahanam and followed by Goddess Sridevi and Bhudevi arrive on DHANTHAPU pallaki to newly constructed and specially decorated Kalyana Madapam at Narayanagiri.As a part of wedding celebrations Edurukolu,New clothes offering,Pulabanti Aata,Exchange of flower bouquet are traditionally conducted by Veda Pandits. Veda Parayanam,Music and Harikatha take place during the wedding celebrations.After completion of wedding ceremony Lord Malayappa swami along with Sridevi and Bhudevi as procession return to main temple.
Third Day - Sri Padmavathi Parinayam [Ekadasi - Vaisaka Masa]
On the final day of Sri Padmavathi Parinayam, Lord Sri Malayappa Swami arrives on Garuda Vahanam(Garuda vahanam is the most dearest vahanam among all vahanams to Lord Venkateswara) and Goddess Sidevi and Bhudevi arrive on Dhanthapu Pallaki to specially decorated kalyana mandapam at Narayanagiri,tirumala. As a part wedding celebrations Edurukolu,New clothes offering,Pulabanti Aata,Exchange of flower bouquet are traditionally conducted by Veda Pandits. Veda Parayanam,Music,Dance and Harikatha take place.Colourful crackers also fires to enlighten the wedding celebrations. After completion of wedding ceremony Lord Malayappa swami along with Sridevi and Bhudevi as procession return to main temple.
